Meet Pastor Stephen
Pastor Stephen Parfitt spent 25 years as a Manufacturing Manager until God said it was time to move. He has been the Pastor at Greensburg Church of the Brethren since July 1, 2019 and has had a great impact in that short time.
From Revivals and events to feeding and clothing people less fortunate, Pastor Stephen has been making a meaningful difference in the church and in the community. His continued efforts to help those in need is an admirable example of following what God calls all of us to do.
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ Matthew 25:40 NIV
A word from our Pastor
Greetings, Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Thank you very much for visiting our webpage. A little about myself: I have always lived in this area. I grew up in Irwin and now live close by in Ft. Allen, near Hempfield High School. My lovely wife, Cathy, grew up in Greensburg and has always been a member of the Greensburg Church of the Brethren. We have a grandson named Jake and he as all grandkids is full of energy and such a blessing to us.
I started out as a youngster attending a Methodist church and at times I grew far away from God. In 1998 was just dating Cathy and it was on Christmas Eve when I stepped foot for the first time in the Greensburg Church of the Brethren. Little did I know where that was going to lead.
I spent 25 years as a Manufacturing Manager until God said it was time to move. Yes, I am/was totally shocked, just like all of my family and friends, that I am/was in the ministry speaking God’s Word. I could not be happier and any more blessed that God landed me in this wonderful Church to be their full-time pastor on July 1, 2019. I attended classes for 3 years from Susquehanna Valley Ministry Center. That was part of the process for my ordination. I believe that God has prepared me my whole life for this journey of ministry in speaking His Word to His people. Worship extends far beyond the 4 walls of our church, and when you take God’s Glory out into the mission field, God will bless you more than you can even imagine.
In my other life as a manufacturing manager, I always believed teamwork was the key to success, and that is even more true in a Christian life. God puts other people in our lives for a reason; we are not supposed to travel this journey by ourselves. I think there is a time to be very serious and a time for fun in church. When you find that right mixture, that right blend, it is a powerful tool. We have that here in the Greensburg Church, and it is building and getting better all the time. We are not perfect here; we are only humble servants of the Lord. If you are not part of our church Family and Friends, I invite you to come visit us on Sunday Mornings or just give me a call and we can chat.
God Bless, Pastor Stephen
